BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State University men's indoor track & field had two student-athletes find their way to the winner's stand at the Samford Indoor Open hosted by Samford University on Jan. 20 in Birmingham, Ala. Field athlete
Jeremiah Saintil and runner
Terrell White snagged places on the winner's podium.
    Saintil competed in the men's triple jump in the meet and placed first in the event with a flight of 14.49 meters (47' 6.5"). Tristan Goodly of the University of Southeast Louisiana came in second place with a flight of 14.22 meters (46' 8"). William Cary University's Charles Wilson took third place with a flight of 14.09 meters (46' 2.75").
    In the men's 400-meter run, White came in second place with a time of 49.34 seconds.
Alocius Kipngetich finished with a time of 52.54 seconds. Mohamed Soumare of the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff took first place with a time of 48.81 seconds while teammate Jordan Pierre came in third place with a time of 49.51 seconds.

Arrington Robinson and Trellas Forrest, Jr. competed for the Braves in the men's 200-meter run. Holloway finished with a time of 22.16 seconds while Robinson ended the race with a time of 22.34 seconds. Forrest rounded out the three with a time of 22.59 seconds. Michael Gizzi of the University of Alabama – Huntsville claimed top honors with a time of 21.17 seconds. Elijah Williams of Shorter University took second place with a time of 21.66 seconds. Jared Sylvester of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff came in third place with a time of 21.81 seconds.
    In the men's mile run,
Kendrick Matthews and
Jaden Ramos competed for the Braves. Matthews finished with a time of 4:57.37 and Ramos came across the finish line with a time of 5:26.24. Sam Wilhelm of Alabama-Huntsville took first place with a time of 4:08.96. Will Ponder of the Atlanta Track Club finished in second place with a time of 4:14.78. Mississippi College's Baxter Friedman finished in third place with a time of 4:16.16.

Kelvin Kipkemboi ran in the men's mile run for Alcorn and finished with a time of 8:59.44. Alabama-Huntsville runners, Nathan Knox and Nate Pohlsander, took first and second place with times of 8:26.61 and 8:34.94, respectively. Noah Embry of Ouachita Baptist University came in third place with a time of 8:39.61.
    In the men's long jump,
Jabri Jackson competed for the Braves and finished the day with a flight of 5.94 meters (19' 6"). Tafadzwa Chikomba of Meridian Community College came in first place with a flight of 7.65 meters (25' 1.25"). William Carey's Jeffrey Usman came in second place with a time of 7.30 meters (23' 11.5"). Caleb Kariuki of the University of Montevallo took third place with a flight of 6.99 meters (22' 11.25").

Tyson Keys and
Shylan Bradforn competed for ASU in the men's shot put. Keys finished the event with 12.94 meters (42' 5.5") and Bradforn ended the day with 9.00 meters (29' 6.5"). Bryan Puckett of Mississippi College won the event with 15.35 meters (50' 4.5"). Montevallo's Matthew Bradbury came in second place with 14.64 meters (48' 0.5"). Andrew Paolozzi of Reinhardt University took third place with 14.47 meters (47' 5.75").
    Alcorn will hit the track again on Sunday, Feb. 4 in the Jaguar Invitational hosted by the University of South Alabama in Birmingham, Ala.
