Box Score LORMAN, Miss. – A quick moving offense and a stalwart defense were the kryptonite for Alcorn State University women's basketball against Grambling State University on Monday evening. The Lady Braves couldn't find a rhythm and were defeated by the Lady Tigers, 55-72.
Alcorn was outmatched in points off turnovers, 33-15, and in the paint, 30-24. The Lady Braves bench mustered up 15 points while Grambling came up with 39.
Destiny Brown led the way ASU with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. She also accounted for one assist.
Nakia Cheatham racked up 12 points and four rebounds.
Alcorn State went 38.9 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from the line.
GSU was led by Jazmyne Jackson tallied 15 points and two assists. Zayla Tinner recorded 13 points and five rebounds while Douthshine Prien tallied five assists.
The Lady Tigers were 39.7 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the line.
ASU will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip off is set for 3 p.m. in Pine Bluff, Ark.
