Lorman, Miss. – Alcorn State University's men's and women's track and field teams have released their 2025-26 indoor schedule under third-year head coach Alonzo Banks. The Braves and Lady Braves will compete in a strong slate of meets across the South, highlighted by multiple appearances in Birmingham and the annual Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Championships.
The season begins on December 5 at the Birmingham Southern Icebreaker in Birmingham, Alabama. After the holiday break, the team returns to action on January 9 for the UAB Blazer Invitational, also in Birmingham.
Mid-January brings back-to-back weekends of top competition, with Alcorn heading to the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee (Jan. 16–17), followed by the Robert Platt Invitational in Houston, Texas (Jan. 30–31).
In February, the Braves and Lady Braves return to Birmingham for the UAB Green and Gold Invitational (Feb. 6) and the UAB Blazer Invitational (Feb. 7) before turning their focus to the 2026 SWAC Indoor Championships, set for February 21–22 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Qualifying student-athletes will advance to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, March 16–17, marking the culmination of the indoor campaign.
Head Coach Alonzo Banks, entering his third season at the helm, expressed excitement about the depth and potential of his program this winter. "This schedule gives our student-athletes the chance to compete against some of the best programs in the region," said Banks. "We're focused on continued growth, improving each meet, and positioning ourselves to make a strong showing at the SWAC Championships."
Alcorn's indoor season sets the tone for the outdoor campaign, where both squads aim to build on the program's recent progress under Banks' leadership.
