LORMAN, Miss. — Alcorn State women's basketball standout Nakia Cheatham has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her strong all-around performance on the road at Ole Miss.
Cheatham delivered a team-high 18 points in Oxford, shooting 7-of-16 from the field and an efficient 2-of-3 from three-point range. She added six rebounds, four steals and consistently set the tone on both ends of the floor against SEC competition.
The graduate guard was active throughout the contest, using her quickness defensively to disrupt passing lanes while providing steady scoring and leadership offensively. Her four steals helped spark transition opportunities and kept the Lady Braves within striking distance against one of the nation's top programs.
Cheatham's recognition marks another highlight for Alcorn State as the Lady Braves continue to build momentum heading into conference play. Her performance at Ole Miss underscored her versatility, competitiveness and importance to the Braves' lineup as the season progresses.
