BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State senior Destiny Brown has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Year after an outstanding season leading the Lady Braves on both ends of the floor. Along with this accolade, the Los Angeles, California, native was also selected to the All-SWAC First Team.
Brown was a dominant presence for Alcorn State, leading the team in points per game (12.4) while making her mark as the premier shot-blocker in the conference. She led the SWAC with 1.8 blocks per game, totaling 47 rejections across 26 contests this season. Additionally, Brown finished fourth in the league in rebounding with 7.7 boards per game, solidifying her role as one of the conference's most impactful players.
Her best performance of the season came against Alabama A&M, where she recorded a season-high 25 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing her ability to control the paint on both ends of the floor.
