BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The No. 6 seed Alcorn State University women's basketball team is set to take on No. 3 seed Alabama A&M in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by Buick. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Thursday, March 13, at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Ga.
Alcorn State (12-17, 10-8 SWAC) enters the tournament looking to make a deep run, while Alabama A&M (21-9, 14-4 SWAC) secured the third seed after an impressive regular season. The Lady Braves will aim to pull off an upset after dropping their only regular-season meeting to the Lady Bulldogs, 66-56.
In other first-round
matchups, top-seeded Southern awaits the winner of No. 8 Florida A&M vs. No. 9 Mississippi Valley State, while No. 2 Texas Southern will face the winner of No. 7 Bethune-Cookman vs. No. 10 Prairie View A&M. The No. 4 vs. No. 5 game features Jackson State and
Grambling State.
