LORMAN, Miss. — Trellas Forrest, the reigning SWAC Outdoor 400-meter champion, has officially qualified to compete in the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, taking place July 31–August 3 at the legendary Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Forrest, one of the nation's top collegiate sprinters, earned his spot among the elite after a dominant outdoor season highlighted by his SWAC title. Now, he sets his sights on the national stage, where he'll compete for a shot at national honors — and potentially, international opportunities.

As part of his final preparations, Forrest will race in the Ed Murphey Classic, a World Athletics-sanctioned professional track meet. The meet will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the University of Memphis. Forrest is scheduled to compete in the 400m at 3:35 p.m. and the 200m at 5:45 p.m., facing off against some of the top athletes in the country.

"The Ed Murphey Classic is the perfect stage to test myself ahead of the USATF Championships," said Forrest. "It's a world-class meet, and I'm ready to compete and keep improving."

Fans and supporters can follow Forrest's progress via live results and coverage from the Ed Murphey Classic and the USATF Outdoor Championships.
