LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Men's Basketball is proud to announce the addition of three new assistant coaches to Head Coach Jake Morton's staff for the upcoming season: Adam Braswell, Emeka "Meka" Chiazor, and Devon Smith. Each brings a distinct background of success in player development, recruitment, and championship-level experience to the Braves basketball program.

"We're excited to welcome Adam, Meka, and Devon to the Braves family," said Head Coach Jake Morton. "They each bring a unique skill set and proven record of success that will elevate our program on and off the court."

Adam Braswell joins Alcorn State following impactful coaching stints at Miami Dade College and St. Thomas University. Known for his dynamic leadership and player-first development approach, Braswell played collegiately at Morgan State, helping lead the team to the 2010 NCAA Tournament. His coaching resume includes back-to-back FCSAA State Tournament appearances at Miami Dade and a Sweet 16 run with St. Thomas University. Braswell's grassroots experience also includes leading the TeamMe AAU program and orchestrating high school turnarounds across South Florida.

Emeka Chiazor brings a powerful blend of coaching acumen and recruiting prowess to the Braves. Most recently at Cecil College, he was instrumental in one of the nation's top JUCO turnarounds—guiding the team from an 8–23 finish to a 23–8 record, and a Region 20 title run. His previous coaching stops include Harford and Howard Community Colleges, along with a formative stint under Ron "Fang" Mitchell at Coppin State University. Chiazor's deep ties across the East Coast and his reputation as a players' coach position him as a major asset for Alcorn State's recruiting efforts.

Devon Smith arrives at Alcorn State with one of the most impressive résumés in player development. He has contributed to the growth of 14 NBA players, including Fred VanVleet, Austin Reaves, and Landry Shamet. Smith's coaching journey spans prestigious programs such as Wichita State, Louisville, Oakland University, and Link Academy—where he helped lead the team to a 34–2 record and a GEICO Nationals finals appearance. A former player at Ohio State and seasoned coach in national camps, Smith brings unmatched experience and basketball IQ to the Braves sideline.

With the addition of Braswell, Chiazor, and Smith, Alcorn State looks forward to building on its basketball legacy and ushering in a new era of success under Coach Morton.
