LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Cross Country and Head Coach Alonzo Banks have officially announced the 2025 competition schedule, featuring a competitive slate that includes five meets across the South. The Braves will kick off the season in early September as they prepare for a strong showing at the SWAC Championships in late October.
The season opens under the lights on Thursday, September 5, at the Mississippi College Opener in Clinton, Mississippi, with a 6 p.m. start. The Braves then travel west to compete in the ULM Cross Country Invitational on September 12 in Monroe, Louisiana, at 8 a.m.
Alcorn returns to action Saturday, September 27, at the Nicholls XC Invitational in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The meet is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start and provides a midseason test for the Braves' roster.
On October 10, the team heads to Ruston, Louisiana, for the Grambling State Invitational – the final tune-up before postseason competition. The regular season concludes with the SWAC Cross Country Championships, set for Monday, October 27, in Tallahassee, Florida. The meet will begin at 8:30 a.m. as Alcorn looks to make a mark on the conference stage.
"Our student-athletes have worked extremely hard this offseason," said Head Coach Alonzo Banks. "This schedule gives us the opportunity to build momentum, gain experience, and compete at a high level leading into the conference championship."
