LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Destini Banks to the Lady Braves volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025 season.

A Mississippi Valley State University alumna, Banks brings a wealth of collegiate playing experience and a deep passion for player development to her new role in Lorman. A former standout middle blocker at MVSU, she led the Devilettes in total blocks during the 2018 season and ranked third on the team in kills. One of her top collegiate performances came against Alcorn State, where she tallied 11 kills and six blocks in a single match—demonstrating the type of intensity and focus she now brings to the sidelines.

Banks completed her bachelor's degree in 2022 at Mississippi Valley State, where she competed from 2018 through 2023, serving as a consistent contributor both offensively and defensively. In December 2024, she earned her master's degree in Sports Administration, further equipping her with the knowledge and leadership skills to succeed in the world of collegiate athletics.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Banks to the Alcorn volleyball family," said interim head coach Gabrielle Harris. "She brings a strong foundation in front-row play, a competitive spirit, and a genuine investment in player development. Her experience as a student-athlete and her commitment to the game will be invaluable to our program."

In her role as assistant coach, Banks will focus on developing front-row players, planning and executing drills, assisting with defensive strategy, and supporting recruiting efforts. She emphasizes teaching fundamentals, fostering team chemistry, and mentoring student-athletes to succeed on and off the court.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Banks is passionate about community outreach and youth development, frequently volunteering her time at volleyball clinics and local mentoring programs.

With a commitment to building a values-driven culture and enhancing the competitive standard at Alcorn State, Banks is ready to help lead the Lady Braves into a new era of excellence.
