LORMAN, Miss. — Alcorn State women's basketball returns home Saturday afternoon looking to build momentum as the Lady Braves host Texas Southern in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex, with fans encouraged to wear white in support of the annual White Out game.
The Lady Braves enter the contest with a 6-9 overall record and are firmly in the conference race at 3-1 in SWAC play. Alcorn has been strong at home this season, winning four of five games at the Whitney, and will look to protect that home-court advantage against a familiar conference opponent.
Nakia Cheatham continues to set the tone offensively for Alcorn State. Maya Claytor adds perimeter firepower, averaging 7.2 points per game and knocking down 33 three-pointers on the season, the most on the roster.

Ja'Sharreah Hunt provide depth and versatility, combining for over nine points per game while contributing on the glass and defensively. Defensively, the Lady Braves average 8.4 steals per contest, with Cheatham and Henderson anchoring an aggressive backcourt that looks to force turnovers and generate transition opportunities.
Alcorn is coming off a convincing 59-43 home win over Prairie View, a performance that showcased balanced scoring and defensive discipline. The Lady Braves held Prairie View to just 43 points while controlling the pace from start to finish, a blueprint they aim to replicate on Saturday.
Saturday's matchup with Texas Southern carries added significance as conference play continues to take shape. With the White Out atmosphere and a growing confidence inside the Whitney, Alcorn State will look to continue its climb in the SWAC standings and deliver another strong home performance in front of Braves Nation.
