Lorman, Miss. – Alcorn State men's and women's track & field teams are set to open another competitive weekend as they travel to compete in the UAB Blazer Invitational, hosted Friday, January 9, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The invitational brings together a strong field of programs and provides an early-season opportunity for the Braves to test themselves across a full slate of running, field, and throwing events on one of the South's premier indoor stages. Competition will feature women's events followed by men's events throughout the day.

The meet will begin with the national anthem at 12:50 p.m., followed immediately by running events starting at 1:00 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles prelims and 60-meter prelims. Track action will continue throughout the afternoon and evening, highlighted by the mile run at 3:30 p.m., the 800 meters at 4:20 p.m., the 200 meters at 5:10 p.m., and the 4x400-meter relay closing the meet at 6:20 p.m.

Field and throwing events will also get underway at 1:00 p.m., including men's and women's long jump and shot put. The women's pole vault is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., followed by the men, while high jump begins at 3:15 p.m. Triple jump competition is set for 4:00 p.m., and the weight throw will take place at 3:30 p.m., with women competing first, followed by the men.

With a full day of competition on tap, the Blazer Invitational serves as an important early measuring stick as Alcorn State continues preparations for the heart of the indoor season.
