LORMAN, Miss. – Due to inclement weather, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series finale between Alcorn and Grambling State on Thursday afternoon has been suspended. The game is tied 10-10 in the middle of the eighth inning.
Â
The head coaches from both programs and officials from Alcorn met with the umpire crew and decided to suspend the game with lightning and heavy storms moving through the area of Lorman, Mississippi. The weather was top-and-go for much of the contest, until the rain and lightning set in for over an hour in the middle of the eighth inning. The playing surface of the Alcorn Softball Complex took on heavy rain in a short amount of time, forcing a decision to be made to suspend the game for the safety of the players.
Â
A date and time for the continuation of the game will be announced at a later date.
