Alcorn Wraps Up Track & Field in Lexington

Forrest and Williams compete at Regionals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Alcorn Men's Track & Field student-athletes Trellas Forrest and Derrick Williams took part in the NCAA East Regionals on Wednesday, May 27, with the Braves duo taking part in two races in an originally scheduled three events at UK Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Kentucky.
 
Trellas Forrest competed in the men's 400m, finishing with a time of 46.24. That placed Forrest fourth overall in his heat. The Mississippi native concluded the 2025-26 year 36th overall in the NCAA East Region, ahead of fellow Historically Black College and University (HBCU) student-athletes from North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State, respectfully.
 
As for Derrick Williams, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion ran the first round of the men's 100m, and crossed in a time of 10.56 overall and eighth in his heat. However, the Florida native was unable to compete in another of his most successful events, the men's 200m. He did not compete following the 100m due to injury.
 
The NCAA East Regional continues through Saturday, May 30.
