LORMAN, Miss. – The women's volleyball program spotted Texas Southern a one-set lead before peeling off three set wins in-a-row in the regular season home finale led by
Mikenzie Young-Mullins' double-double.
The Lady Braves held TSU to only two services aces while not allowing them to convert a single block attempt at the net to go along with forcing the Lady Tigers into 22 attack errors.
The Purple and Gold topped the ladies from Houston in digs (63-57) and service aces (4-2) with two separate players notching double-figures for kills, assists and digs on Coach Robinson's squad.
Playing the starring role in the victory was SWAC Newcomer of the Year
Mikenzie Young-Mullins who recorded her first career double-double in a Lady Braves uniform with a game-high 14 kills plus 11 digs, as well as hitting .414 over 29 attempts on the evening.
Seniors
Jasmine Chambers and
Mae Lewis went out on a high note during their final home game of their careers, as the former tallied a game and season-best 20 assists while narrowly missing a double-double while the latter had six kills and a season-best three digs.
Jeda Curry tied her season-high points total (11) courtesy of ten kills and
Makayla Wardlaw also set new personal-bests for both digs (5) and blocks (2)
Finishing off the Lady Braves' notable performers were
Mariah Wilmoth and
Jurnee Calhoun. Wilmoth had a team-best 14 digs with four assists thrown in and Calhoun crossed the double-digit threshold in assists (15).
