TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Both the Alcorn Men's Cross Country and Women's Cross Country teams are in action this weekend when the Braves travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the Crimson Classic on Friday, Oct. 14. The event is hosted by the University of Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Course and serves as the first home event for the Crimson Tide in cross country since 2017.

With a field of more than a dozen teams participating in the men's and women's races, the event begins with the men toeing the line at 8:30 a.m. CT for an 8,000-metyer course race, followed by the women at 9:20 a.m. CT for the 6-kilometer race.

Last Time Out for the Braves (Men & Women)
- Stellah Kiptui turned in a second-place performance, as the Alcorn Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in the LSU Invitational hosted by Louisiana State University at University Club. For Alcorn, the women's team finished third amongst seven participating teams at this year's LSU Invitational, finishing with a score of 92.
- Kiptui, a sophomore from Kabarnet, Kenya, finished the women's 5K event in a time of 17:22.30. That time allowed her to finish second overall for the event – just five seconds behind race-winner Lorena Rangel Batres of LSU.
- Sophomore Runelda Jackson finished with a top 10 time, turning in a sixth-place effort and time of 18:02.00.
- In the men's 6K event, Alcorn recorded a fourth-place mark as a team, holding a final score of 117.
- It was sophomore Bethwel Limo finishing as the lead runner for the Purple and Gold, amassing a time of 20:55.20 and a 23rd place finish overall. Jeremiah Wingate, also a sophomore for the Braves, finished in 26th, as he registered a finishing mark of 21:21.50.
- Marciano Taylor eclipsed a top 30 finish amongst the field of 53, as he crossed the line in 21:40.20 on the day.

The Field
- The men's field, which will race over eight kilometers, features the Alcorn Braves joined by the host Alabama Crimson Tide – ranked No. 22 nationally, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foes Jackson State and Southern (La.), Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Florida State, Belmont, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, North Florida, Samford, South Alabama and Wallace State.
- The women's race, which will cover 6 kilometers, features the Braves of Alcorn, in addition to host Alabama – ranked No. 6 nationally, SWAC opponents Jackson State and Southern (La.), Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina along with No. 24 Florida State, Clemson, Alabama A&M, Belmont, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss and Wallace State.

Directions to the Course
- From Veterans Memorial Parkway & Loop Road:Â From the University of Alabama Campus to Harry Pritchett Running Park Take Paul Bryant Drive East to Hwy. 82. Go east on Hwy. 82 (to second traffic light) and make a left (east) on 15th street. Go east on 15th street and continue until you see a sign for Arboretum. You must be in the right lane to take this exit. Go straight off the exit. Make a left and follow road as it curves down the hill.
- From East/ West of Tuscaloosa to Harry Pritchett Running Park:Â Take I-20/ 59 to exit 73 (Hwy. 82). Go west on Hwy. 82 through several traffic lights to 15th street (the light after University Mall). Make a right (east) on 15th street and continue until you see a sign for Arboretum. You must be in the right lane to take this exit. Go straight off the exit. Make a left and follow road as it curves down the hill.
