Clinton, Miss. – The Alcorn State men's and women's cross country teams both turned in competitive performances at the 2025 Mississippi College Opener, securing sixth-place finishes to begin their season.
On the men's side, Bryan Alvarez led the Braves with a 41st-place finish in the 5000m race. He was closely followed by Kendrick Matthews in 43rd and Alocius Kipngetich in 54th, both adding valuable points to the team total. Rounding out the scoring were Corinthian Walker (64th) and Darrian Wells (68th), helping Alcorn secure its spot in the standings. The team's split times underscored their grit and steady pacing, marking a promising start to the season.
In the women's race, Silvia Jepkorir paced the Lady Braves with a strong 25th-place finish in the 5000m. Erin Barr followed in 41st, while Lanise Chilton crossed in 51st, anchoring the middle of the lineup. Jaleah Netter (65th) and Jasmine Robertson (66th) rounded out the team's scoring efforts, giving Alcorn a solid sixth-place showing. The Lady Braves' splits reflected their determination and consistency, with each runner displaying disciplined pacing and endurance.
