Kiptui Named Runner of the Week for Third Time

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For a league-high third time this season, Alcorn Women's Cross Country student-athlete Stellah Kiptui has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced Monday evening by the league office from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
While having competed in four events during the current 2022 season, Kiptui has been named as the conference's Runner of the Week on three occasions following meets for the Braves.
 
The 5-foot-2 sophomore from Kabarnet, Kenya turned in a seventh-place time of 20:29.90 over the weekend at the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Course in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Kiptui placed seventh individually in the women's 5,850-meter event, as more than 200 student-athletes took part in what was the first cross country event back on the Alabama campus since 2017.
 
As a team, the women finished 15th in the field.
