Makayla Wardlaw of Alcorn Volleyball have each been selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team announced by the CSC headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Makayla Wardlaw, a 5-foot-11 junior outside hitter from Montgomery, Alabama, was a catalyst for the Braves and Head Coach
Melissa Robinson throughout the 2022 season. The Park Crossing High alum led the Braves in kills (204), kills per set, (2.15), points (245) and points per set (2.58). She went on to add eight assists and a team-high 31 service aces (0.33 service aces/set) across the campaign. On the defensive front, Wardlaw amassed a team second-most 159 digs (1.67 digs/set), while registering 17 blocks (three solo, 14 assisted). In all, she accumulated three (3) double-doubles for the year, including a 17-kill, 13-dig outing in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Mississippi Valley State (Oct. 30). She would also achieve a 15-kill, 10-dig contest against Prairie View A&M (Oct. 17). Away from the volleyball court, Wardlaw is a Presidential Scholar for Alcorn (Spring 2021), in addition to being a member of the Dean's List in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. She is a Computer Science major at Alcorn.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.

Faith Archibong, a junior middle blocker from Shawnee, Kansas, she ended the 2022 campaign for the Braves with 97 kills (1.70 kills/set), allowing her to finish the season fifth on the team in that department. She played in 18 matches on the year, drawing a start in 17 of those contests for the Braves. She also finished the season hitting at a .110 clip, adding a team second-most 24 blocks (0.42 blocks/set). Defensively, she also collected 12 digs, while setting up 19 assists. She produced two matches on the year in which she accumulated four or more blocks (vs. Stetson, vs. Belmont). In the classroom, Archibong is a Biology (Pre-Professional) major that landed on the Dean's List in both the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, respectfully.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
