MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Alcorn State women's track team takes second place, and the men's team finishes sixth at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Braves won the women's 4 x 800-meter relay and had 16 individual top-five finishes, including five silver medalists.

The women's relay team finished with a time of 9:36.44 to beat out 20 other teams. College of Charleston finished second in the race with a time of 9:39.39.

The women's 4x100m relay team came in fourth with a time of 48.20, while the men's team came in third with a time of 42.47.

Zayne Palomino finished second in the men's high jump, clearing 2.08m.

Amiri Franklin and Johnny Holloway III had top-five finishes in the men's 100m dash opening round. Franklin placed second with a time of 11.03 to qualify, and Holloway had a time of 11.12.

Americus Knight finished fifth in the women's 100m dash opening round with a 12.75 to qualify. She also placed third in the women's high jump low bar, clearing 1.48m.

Ashton Defreeze represented Alcorn in the men's 200m dash. He placed fifth with a time of 21.78.

In the women's 400m dash, AnTwanique Kinsler finished second with a time of 57.02

Akili Pleas-Carnie came in second in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.05.

Kiana Allen cleared 5.44m in the women's long jump to finish fourth and 11.97m in the triple jump to place third. Qua'Neshia Hamilton finished right after Allen at fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.87m.

Jvontae Noel finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.50m.
