PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Alcorn State women's track and field team finished third at the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship with 109 points. Lady Brave Stellah Kiptui was named the Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete.
The men's team placed 12 with 10 points after Jvontae Noel placed fourth in the men's 110 hurdles and Zayne Palomino placed fifth in the men's high jump.

Stellah Kiptui wowed the crowd, collecting two additional medals for a total of three with five top-10 finishes. On the final day of the championships, Kiptui placed first in the 5000m with a time of 17:55.25, second in the 1500m at 4:46.07, and seventh in the 800m at 2:18.29.
Also competing in the women's 1500m, Daisy Enriquez finished sixth with a time of 4:56.95, and Samouya Nevers placed eighth at 5:02.86.
Enriquez and Jackson joined Kiptui in the women's 5000m. Enriquez received the silver medal at 18:21.14, and Jackson placed fourth at 19:15.38.
The women's relay team placed first in the 4x400m and sixth in the 4x100. Betheny Sanders, Jasmine Ward, Endya Scott, and Kinsler took the gold in the 4x400 with a time of 3:42.17, and Mckenzie Patterson, Khiah Williams, Mone Octave, and Scott finished sixth at 47.31.
Akili Please-Carnie got a bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles, finishing third at 1:01.16.
Zayne Palomino placed fifth in the men's high jump with a height of 2.02m. Americus Knight also finished fifth in the women's high jump with 1.59m.
Jvontae Noel competed in the men's 110 hurdles for a fourth-place finish. He ended the race with a time of 14.60.
An'Twanique Kinsler grabbed the silver medal in the women's 400m dash. She placed second with a time of 54.71.

Enriquez finished first in the 3000 Steeplechase with a time of 11:40.00, and Jackson came in third at 12:21.36.
Freshman thrower Kyla Childs placed sixth in the women's shot put with a distance of 12.64m.
Two Lady Braves had top-ten finishes in the women's long jump. Kiana Allen placed seventh, and Khiah Williams finished 10th with measurements of 5.62m and 5.47m, respectively.
Akili Pleas-Carnie placed first in the women's 400 hurdles preliminaries with a 1:00.98 to qualify. She will compete in the finals tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
Jvontae Noel grabbed the number one spot in the men's 110 hurdles prelims and will retake the track on Saturday at 11:20 a.m.
An'Twanique Kinsler qualified for the women's 400 dash, finishing third in the preliminaries with 55.55. She will compete again on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Yesterday's 10,000m gold recipient finished third in the women's 800 preliminaries to qualify for the finals at 2:15.05. She will return tomorrow at 11:50 a.m.
The final athlete to qualify for tomorrow's finals is Ashton Defreeze. He placed eighth in the men's 100 dash preliminaries with a time of 10.68.
Thursday Recap
Braves track and field had a successful first day of the competition, placing first and second in one women's event and seeing personal records in the men's event.
The Lady Braves competitors in the 10,000m stole the show taking both the gold and the silver. Stellah Kiptui finished a full minute before second-place finisher Daisy Enriquez.
Muonie Pickens and Tylah Magee competed in the women's hammer throw. Magee broker her record.
The men's 10,000m featured Jeremiah Wingate, and Avaun Morgan set a new personal best in the hammer and javelin throw.
