LAST TIME OUT
D'Ana Prieto's 70th-minute goal proved to be the match winner and history-maker for Alcorn Soccer, as the Braves defeated East Texas Baptist by a score line of 2-1. The win represented the first time Alcorn had defeated an NCAA opponent in a nonconference game on the road in program history. Alcorn took the lead in the opening half courtesy freshman forward
Samara Nunn's first goal of the season in the 29th minute, after seeing her goal against Grambling State awarded to teammate
Jaidyn Matheu after further video review. The Braves continued to pepper shots around the East Texas Baptist goal until Nunn's shot blazed past reserve keeper Addison Funk for the match-winner. In all, Alcorn had 15 shots in the game, including 12 on target.
Zea Anderson and Nunn each led the way with three shots apiece.

LAST TIME VS. NICHOLLS
Alcorn claimed its first nonconference win of the 2021 campaign when the Braves defeated Nicholls by a score of 2-1, on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Sports Force Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After falling behind early-on from a Kaitlyn Poirrier goal in the second minute, the Braves used an equalizer from
Charlie Bal in the 15th minute to knot the game at 1-1. Alcorn and Nicholls traded opportunities to claim the lead for much of the second half, until
Jada Ward put the Braves in front for good as the Nicholls goalkeeper mishandled a corner kick from the Braves. Nicholls had 17 shots as compared to Alcorn's 13, while the Colonels also had 10 on-target as compared to Alcorn's seven for the game.
Vivian Lugo recorded the win for the Braves between the posts, playing all 90 minutes and stopping nine shots on the night.

BRAVES MAKE HISTORY
With the win at East Texas Baptist, Alcorn Soccer registered its first-ever away nonconference win against an NCAA opponent in school history. The second half winner from
D'Ana Prieto was her first goal of the 2022 season, and one of the most significant goals in program history for Head Coach
Kevin Larry and his squad.

UP NEXT
