BATON ROUGE, La. –
Stellah Kiptui turned in a second place performance on Friday morning, as the Alcorn Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in the LSU Invitational hosted by Louisiana State University at University Club.

For Alcorn, the women's team finished third amongst seven participating teams at this year's LSU Invitational, finishing with a score of 92.

Kiptui, a sophomore from Kabarnet, Kenya, finished the women's 5K event in a time of 17:22.30. That time allowed her to finish second overall for the event – just five seconds behind race-winner Lorena Rangel Batres of LSU.

Alcorn sophomore
Runelda Jackson finished with a top 10 time, turning in a sixth place effort and time of 18:02.00.

Another sophomore for the Braves,
Samouya Nevers, finished 25th overall in the field of 55, as she crossed in a time of 21:03.60 on the day.

Akili Please-Carne had a time of 22:42.90, allowing her to cross in 33rd.

Junior
Ann Dangha, competing in her first event as a Braves member after transferring from Butler Community College, registered a time of 27:24.20.
Â
And it was
Neshae Sanders rounding out the six participating runners for the Braves on the women's side with a time of 30:26.50.

"Consistency," expressed Joseph. "Under the guidance of Coach Bond, our men and women are doing an amazing job running lifetime-best times."

In the men's 6K event, Alcorn recorded a fourth place mark as a team, holding a final score of 117.

It was sophomore
Bethwell Limo finishing as the lead runner for the Purple and Gold, amassing a time of 20:55.20 and a 23rd place finish overall.
Jeremiah Wingate, also a sophomore for the Braves, finished up in 26th, as he registered a finishing mark of 21:21.50.

Marciano Taylor eclipsed a top 30 finish amongst the field of 53, as he crossed the line in 21:40.20 on the day.

Elijah Anderson collected a time of 22:13.70 for the Purple and Gold, while sophomore
David Smith captured a time of 22:29.40.

Meanwhile,
Chemar McGhee finished the race in a time of 22:57.90.
Â
Alcorn Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will next compete at the Crimson Classic on Friday, Oct. 14, at 8 a.m. The event will take place at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
