Kiptui Captures SWAC Weekly Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State Women's Cross Country student-athlete Stellah Kiptui has been named this week's Southwestern Athletic Conference Runner of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
A sophomore from Kabarnet, Kenya, Kiptui helped the Braves women's cross country squad over the weekend during the season-opening event dubbed The Opener hosted by Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. Kiptui claimed the individual win for the event, turning in a first place time of 18:06.70 on the evening.
 
For Kiptui, this week's award marks her first SWAC Runner of the Week accolade for the 2022 season.
 
For Alcorn, Women's Cross Country will return to the course again on Friday, Sept. 16, when the Braves travel to participate in the North Alabama Invitational being held at John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, Alabama.
