LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State women's volleyball is ready to open the 2023 season under new leadership. Newly named head coach, Mariah Prince will lead the Lady Braves, which finished with a 5-24 (4-12 SWAC) record on last season.
The Braves welcome back a host of returners, including sophomores
Demya Tate,
Ramona Pulu,
Emma Price,
Alissa Williams, and senior
Makayla Wardlaw. Tate led the Lady Braves in sets played with 98 and was second on the team in points scored. Pulu finished the 2022 campaign with 473 assists on 96 sets played. Wardlaw led the team in points (245), points per set (2.58) and total attacks with 630.
The Lady Braves open the season at the Tiger Brawl hosted by the University of Memphis on Friday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. The first home match will be on September 25 to open SWAC play when the Lady Braves welcome Southern University to the reservation. First serve at 6:30 p.m.
The SWAC tournament will be held at Prairie View A&M starting Friday, November 17 – Sunday, November 19.
