JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Alcorn State University standout
Trellas Forrest capped off a strong 2025 campaign on Friday evening at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships – East Quarterfinals, hosted by the University of North Florida.
After advancing out of the First Round with a time of 46.58 seconds on Wednesday, Forrest returned to action in the men's 400-meter dash with hopes of securing a trip to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Competing in a deep and talented field, the senior posted a time of 46.07 seconds, finishing 19th overall, just shy of the top 12 required to advance.
While his journey to Eugene ends this season, Forrest's collegiate career is far from over. The reigning SWAC Champion in the 400m, who owns a personal-best time of 45.28 seconds—one of the top marks in the nation this year—will return next season to build on an already impressive legacy.
"I'm extremely proud of the dedication and hard work TJ has shown throughout the season," said head coach Alonzo Banks. "He's an example of the athletes we are recruiting here at Alcorn State to help our team elevate to the next level."
Forrest's return will bolster a rising Alcorn State sprint group, as the Braves look to carry this season's momentum into 2026.
